Thieves' Guild

Espionage, Gambler, Stealth

Things that go bump in the night are often attributed to the Thieves' Guild. Generally despised by the common folk, thieves fulfill a strange niche in society. As observers and operative of the night, they hold the pulse of the city in their hands. Knowing when to tug on the strings to induce chaos, or to act as a release valve, to restore order, is the dichotomy of what it means to be a thief. You have to manage your resources and be patient; for you cannot impoverish an entire city without dire consequences and far ranging repercussions. To act as a thief is to operate in the night and be faceless, no one should know your name.

Regional Headquarters: Unknown (Rhukichii)
Racial Callings: Kaliska
Areas of Influence: Espionage, Gambler, Stealth

Expectations:

1: Thieves are generally not viewed on with favor, as such keep your membership in the guild secret. Openly admitting that you are in the thieves guild places not only your in jeopardy, but also places others in peril.
2: The Guild's law is absolute and respect is not only expected of its members, but demanded. You are to respect higher ranking guild members and obey them without question. To flout guild law is to court death.
3: You are not alone in the dark, thieves are everywhere. As such do not poach another thief's turf and operate without restraint. The Guild works best on commission and with discretion.

Espionage

Level 1 - Novice

Practical Use: Investigation
Category: INF
Limitation: U
Description: You can gather evidence and profile information through basic long term surveillance of a place of subject.

Special Use: Chameleon
Category: A
Limitation: TDL
Description: After 1 minute of studying a situation, you are able to blend into situations seemlessly. You are able to quickly think ahead, correcting mistakes before you even make them. If in a situation where you have had at least a minute of study time to prepare before speaking/taking action, you then do something that would be considered odd or would give you away you may call Tagline: Chameleon to 'undo' the action or statement, as if it never happened in the first place. Note: this only works on social/spy mistakes. You cannot undo things like setting off a trap.

Level 2 - Apprentice

Practical Use: Interrogation
Category: INF
Limitation: U
Description: You know how to gain desired information from a prisoner, informant, or contact.

Special Use: Disguise
Category: A
Limitation: TDL
Description: Through the clever use of makeup, costume, and mannerisms, you may alter your appearance to look like any generic person you choose. (This must be phys repped.) You may use this skill on up to your TSL in people (including yourself) at any one time. While you can disguise someone else, it is up to them to not get caught as they gain no other benefits unless they have an applicable skill.

Level 3 - Journeyman

Practical Use: Local Contact
Category: INF
Limitation: U
Description: You have a knack for making contact wherever you go. In any town you have visited, you have a source of information.

Special Use: Infiltration
Category: A
Limitation: TDL
Description: You are capable of keeping your cover and getting into well guarded places. When disguised, you gain a resist to being revealed as someone that doesn't belong (Tagline: Resist Reveal). Further, given one minute of prep you can throw together a temporary disguise (Hand signal: holding your hand in front of your face) that will pass most cursory inspections. These disguises are generic background people, the type that don't get noticed.

Level 4 - Master

Practical Use: National Contact
Category: INF
Limitation: U
Description: You have friends in low places... and apparently high ones as well. In any country you have visited you have a political asset you can call upon for information.

Special Use: Alias
Category: A
Limitation: OPD
Description: You are able to set up a false identity that you may use. It takes 10 minutes prep in game, or can be done in IBGAs as well, to draw up the documents and other connections to prove you are who you say you are. You may maintain up to your TSL in active Aliases, as they do not expire unless you give them up or are revealed. You may also choose to use this skill to create a fake idenityt for someone else, but it still counts against your maximum number of Aliases.

Level 5 - Grand Master

Practical Use: International Contact
Category: INF
Limitation: U
Description: You are speaking terms with most, if not all, the current foreign diplomats and guild masters, and are on a friendly basis with the majority of them. This also grants you an additional IBGA to be used for Espionage purposes.

Special Use: Impersonation
Category: A
Limitation: OPE
Description: With an intense amount of study (at least an hour cumulative in the subjects presence) you are able to take on the identity of another person to such a degree that you are able to fool anyone who meets you.

Gambler

Level 1 - Novice

Practical Use: Read Tells
Category: A
Limitation: TDL
Description: You can tell when someone is trying to cover their emotions or intentions. You may call the Tagline: Read Tells after someone's statement and they will inform you (and only you) that they were telling the truth or lying. Further, this skill may be used similarly to Intuition to glean information specificlly about a person you are watching or interacting with.

Special Use: Sleight of Hand
Category: A
Limitation: TDL
Description: You excel at palming objects and picking pockets. Must specify a known or visible object, or draw a random item. Objects that are secured in some fashion cannot be stolen.

Level 2 - Apprentice

Practical Use: Poker Face
Category: A
Limitation: U
Description: You can school your face when you are speaking to a person and attempting to hide the truth. As such you are Immune to Read Tells and Sense Emotions.

Special Use: Weigh the Odds
Category: INF
Limitation: U
Description: Plan your approach to a given game, hand or situation based on which odds present the best outcome.

Level 3 - Journeyman

Practical Use: Loaded Dice
Category: INF
Limitation: U
Description: You can increase your odds at a random chance skill/result or obtaining desired information from a contact. Further you may choose the result of a single roll of the dice, select a specific card in a pull, etc. in an in play game of chance.

Special Use:Bluff
Category: A
Limitation: TDL
Description: You can school your face when you are speaking to a person and attempting to hide the truth. When telling a lie you may use the Tagline: Bluff, to make a person utterly believe you.

Level 4 - Master

Practical Use: Call Bluff
Category: INF
Limitation: U
Description: You are able to read the truths in what people say, able to see when people are lying to you and making you Immune to Bluff.

Special Use: Stack the Deck
Category: A
Limitation: TDL
Description: Your lies and misinformation can cause others to play perfectly into your hands, allowing you to direct conversations during a game of chance as well as win without throwing suspicion to your luck.

Level 5 - Grand Master

Practical Use: Luck
Category: A
Limitation: OPD
Description: This is the same as the Luck Advantage.

Special Use: Illusionist
Category: A
Limitation: TDL
Description: You can make an item or person seem to disappear, even when in the middle of a crowd of onlookers.

Stealth

Level 1 - Novice

Practical Use: Pick Locks
Category: P
Limitation: U
Description: You are capable of picking locks of a difficulty level up to your Stealth TSL level. This skill requires a set of tagged lockpicks.

Special Use: Camouflage
Category: A
Limitation: TDL
Description: You can blend in with your surroundings as long as you remain stationary. (Both hands must be crossed in front of your face) In order to do this you must be partially hidden and state "Camouflage 1, Camouflage 2, Camouflage 3." For this level of skill you must have your hands completely free. Also, it must be obvious that you're not just crossing your arms to any onlookers. This is a contestable skill, so if someone is looking at you as you do your 3 count, they may call out "I see you" and may then interact with you normally, though others may no longer see you unless they pull you out of concealment.

Level 2 - Apprentice

Practical Use: Distract
Category: A
Limitation: TDL
Description: You toss a brown packet and call Tagline: Distract. Any onlookers must look in the direction of the packet for 3 seconds before they are able to look elsewhere again. This skill does not prevent them from speaking or taking action, it only requires they direct their attention towards where the packet lands.

Special Use: Conceal
Category: A
Limitation: TDL
Description: You can hide yourself away and sneak about stealthily. (Both hands must be crossed in front of you, with hands held flat and empty.) In order to do this you must state, “Concealing 1, Concealing 2, Concealing 3.” Once Concealed you can move at a slow walk while remaining hidden. Moving faster or taking any other action brings you out of Conceal. A Reveal or Greater Reveal will bring you out as well. While you my not have any items in your hands, you may brace them against your chest. It must be obvious that you're not just crossing your arms to any onlookers. This is a contestable skill, so if someone is looking at you as you do your 3 count, they may call out "I see you" and may then interact with you normally, though others may no longer see you unless they pull you out of concealment.

Level 3 - Journeyman

Practical Use: Cut Purse
Category: A
Limitation: TDL
Description: You are able to steal an item from a locked pouch, bypassing a lock of your TSL or lower, by cutting the bottom out of the pouch and scooping up the items before they hit the ground. This does 'damage' the pouch you have cut, so the owner will be aware something is amiss, but as long as there are others around they will not know who to pin the crime on.

Special Use: Greater Conceal
Category: A
Limitation: TDL
Description: You can hide and sneak much faster while remaining stealthy. (Both hands must be crossed in front of you.) In order to do this you must state, “Concealing 1, Concealing 2, Concealing 3.” Once Concealed you can move at a normal walk while remaining hidden. Running or taking any other action brings you out of Greater Conceal. Further, it requires a Greater Reveal to expose you. At this level you may now carry items in your hands, however it still must be obvious that you're not just crossing your arms to any onlookers. This is a contestable skill, so if someone is looking at you as you do your 3 count, they may call out "I see you" and may then interact with you normally, though others may no longer see you unless they pull you out of concealment.

Level 4 - Master

Practical Use: Hidden Associates
Category: A
Limitation: U
Description: You may now bring others with you into concealment. You may have a total of 5 people (including yourself) brought into a Greater Conceal with you. They must all stay within arms length during the conceal, and are brought out of concealment when you are. This functions in the same fashion as Greater Conceal, above.

Special Use: Exit Strategy
Category: A
Limitation: OPD
Description: You never enter a room without noting the exits and being aware of the fastest way out. Because of this, once per day you may call a Tagline: Uncontestable Fair Escape, assuming you are not already bound or incapacitated. While no one can prevent you from escaping, they can still track you if they have the appropriate skills.

Level 5 – Grand Master

Practical Use: Silent as the Grave
Category: A
Limitation: U
Description: Your steps make no sound or undue disturbance, even upon freshly fallen snow. Also your steps are carefully placed allowing you to dodge any pressure plate traps you might set off. This skill also makes you impossible to track via footprints, though you can still be tracked by scent or other means.

Special Use: Reconceal
Category: A
Limitation: TDL
Description: You are now able to instantly reconceal when revealed. This also allows you to make a single attack from concealment. Note, you could not cast a spell and reconceal because your verbal would keep you revealed for too long, but an instant attack you could call Tagline: Reconceal after, and you will return to your previous level of concealment.
